My Dad and his friends threw huge parties for Halloween, St. Patrick's Day and Hanukkah**. There was always tons of beer and food and always a live band. As I kid I danced the night away at many a holiday party. I grew up thinking this was normal and all kid's Dads did this with their friends.
**We aren't Jewish but my former stepmom is and that's why my Dad did the Hanukkah party.

I have what I have deemed, "I thought you said sydrome." I often mis-hear words or phrases that give a totally different meaning...Two examples from songs: In Sound of Music, one of the song lines is, "Auf Wiedersehen, good-night." But, until I was in my twenties, I honestly thought it was, "Our feet are saying good-night." And in the G-rated, Disney movie, Little Mermaid, Sebastian the crab is tempting Ariel to stay in the ocean with all the sea offers in the song, "Under the Sea." He said they had a "hot, crustean band." But for the longest time, I thought they were offering her a "hot, crustean MAN." :o}
Every time I go to a wedding, I wish I could be the bride . . . wear her dress, have my hair like hers, the flowers, activities, etc. I would definitely want my husband to be the groom of course. It's just that I like different sorts/styles of weddings, and kind of wish I could try each one I see.
